Conflict clearance checks whether a new matter or client creates a conflict with existing engagements across your organisation.

When it runs automatically

Conflict clearance runs when:
  • A new matter is created
  • A new client is created
  • A new counterparty is added to a matter

What the check searches

The check searches existing matters, clients, counterparties, and matter parties across the entire organisation. It does not search outside your firm.

The clearance queue

Potential conflicts route to the partner approval queue. Partners and Org Admins see pending items under Compliance, then Conflict clearance.

Three outcomes

OutcomeMeaning
ClearedNo conflict found, or conflict reviewed and approved
BlockedConflict confirmed. Matter cannot proceed
EscalatedRequires senior partner review beyond standard clearance

Ethical walls

An ethical wall restricts specific users from accessing a matter even after clearance. Set ethical walls on the matter Team tab. See Matters for configuration steps.

Manual conflict check

Run a conflict check outside the automatic flow:
1

Open Compliance

Go to Compliance, then Conflict clearance.
2

Click Manual check

Enter the party names to check.
3

Review results

Results show matching matters and clients with conflict indicators.
A conflict that is cleared in Largence creates an audit record. If a conflict is later discovered, that record shows when the check was run and who cleared it.
