# Custo Source: https://docs.largence.com/ai-and-generation/copilot Use matter-aware conversational AI in Ask or Agent mode. **Custo**, **Generate**, and **Legal Agents** are three separate AI surfaces. This article covers **Custo** only. Custo is matter-aware conversational AI. It reads your workspace context and can answer questions or take actions depending on the mode you select. ## Open Custo * Press `Cmd+Shift+I` (Mac) or `Ctrl+Shift+I` (Windows) to open Custo * Press `Cmd+Shift+S` (Mac) or `Ctrl+Shift+S` (Windows) to return to Studio * Click **Ask Custo** on any matter or document page ## Ask mode vs Agent mode **Ask mode** (Chat) is read-only. Custo retrieves, summarises, and answers questions. It does not create or modify anything. **Agent mode** can create tasks, generate documents, run compliance checks, and take other actions. Agent mode is available on Learn and above. Agent mode asks for confirmation before any irreversible action. Custo in Ask mode does not modify any data in your workspace. Switch to Agent mode when you want Custo to take action. ## Attach context Pin a matter or document to a thread so Custo answers in that context. Click the attachment icon in the composer and select the matter or document. ## Tool activity When Custo runs a tool, an activity indicator appears showing the tool name (for example `list_matters`, `search_documents`). Expand the indicator to see query details and sources retrieved. ## Confirmation step In Agent mode, Custo pauses before irreversible actions and shows a confirmation prompt. Review what Custo is about to do, then approve or cancel. Reply `yes` or `go ahead` to confirm. Reply `no` or `cancel` to abort. ## Thread history Threads are stored per workspace in your browser. Open the thread list in the Custo panel to find previous conversations. ## Available models | Model | Description | | ----------------- | ------------------------------------------ | | Custo (default) | Balanced routing across frontier models | | GPT-5 | Deep reasoning and multimodal intelligence | | GPT-4o | Real-time voice and vision | | Claude 4 Sonnet | Advanced agentic precision | | Claude 3.7 Sonnet | Instruction following for legal workflows | | Gemini 3 Pro | Large context windows | | Gemini 3 Flash | Fast multilingual responses | Change the model from the model selector in the Custo composer. ## Parity dock The Parity dock is a lighter quick-assistant panel for short queries. It differs from the full Custo interface. Open it from the bottom-right dock icon on any product page. Yes, in the workspace it is opened from. Custo searches matters, documents, and tasks within the active workspace. Thread history is stored per workspace in your browser. Workspace admins can review activity through audit logs. Custo (also called Parity) is the default AI routing layer. It selects the most appropriate model for each query. Override it with a specific model if you prefer. AI-assisted drafting with verified citations. Autonomous background agents for Vertex and Zenith. # Generate a document Source: https://docs.largence.com/ai-and-generation/generating-a-document Draft agreements with AI, verified statute citations, and matter context. **Generate**, **Custo** (Copilot), and **Legal Agents** are three separate AI surfaces. This article covers **Generate** only. Generate is AI-assisted drafting with matter context and a live streaming preview. Each completed draft uses one generation from your monthly allowance. ## Supported document types Generate supports these document types: 1. Shareholders Agreement 2. Service Agreement 3. Employment Contract 4. NDA (Mutual) 5. NDA (Unilateral) 6. Data Processing Agreement 7. Commercial Lease 8. Share Purchase Agreement 9. IP Assignment 10. Board Resolution (Nigeria only) ## Start a generation Click **Generate** in the sidebar or press `Cmd+Shift+G` (Mac) or `Ctrl+Shift+G` (Windows). Choose the agreement type from the catalog. Choose Nigeria or UK. Statute references and clause language change based on jurisdiction. Fill in party names, key commercial terms, and any matter-specific instructions. Select a matter to attach the generated document to the matter library on completion. Click **Generate**. The streaming view shows progress as clauses are drafted. ## Streaming view The progress indicators show which clause is being drafted, citation retrieval status, and assembly progress. The document preview updates in real time as clauses complete. ## Citation badges Each clause displays a citation badge when Largence finds a verified statute match. The badge shows the statute, section, and confidence score (how closely the clause maps to the verified provision). When Largence cannot find a verified citation, the clause is flagged rather than given an unverified reference. If Largence cannot find a verified citation for a clause, it flags the clause rather than generating an unverified reference. Review flagged clauses before sending any document to a client. ## Clause refinement After generation, click any clause to refine it. Enter instructions for the change. Refinements within the same session do not consume additional generations. ## Counter-draft Upload a counterparty version and initiate a counter-draft. Largence produces AI redlines against the counterparty document, highlighting deviations from your position. Navigate to the document detail page. Upload the counterparty document. Review suggested changes clause by clause before accepting or rejecting. ## Generation sessions Each generation is logged as a session with a full audit trail. Open **Generation history** to review past sessions, inputs, and outputs. Each document generation uses one generation from your monthly allowance. Clause refinements within an existing generated document do not consume additional generations. Matter-aware conversational AI for questions and actions. Statute and case law research with citation library. # Legal agents Source: https://docs.largence.com/ai-and-generation/legal-agents Run autonomous background agents that deliver results to the Autopilot inbox. Legal Agents require a Vertex or Zenith plan and the legalAgents entitlement. This feature is not available on Origin, Learn, or Edge. Legal Agents are autonomous agents that run in the background and deliver results to the **Autopilot inbox** on the home dashboard. They are not the same as Custo. Agents run without requiring you to remain in the interface. ## The four specialist agents | Agent | What it does | | ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Document Review | Clause risk scoring, playbook deviation analysis, redline suggestions | | Regulatory Response | Obligation monitoring, regulator enquiry drafts, policy impact assessment | | Matter Close | Matter wind-down checklists, outstanding tasks, archive readiness | | Client Onboarding | Client intake orchestration, KYC collection, onboarding pack generation | ## Human approval gates Agents do not act unilaterally on sensitive actions. Before proceeding, the agent shows a confirmation prompt explaining what it is about to do. Review and approve or cancel. ## The Autopilot inbox Completed agent deliverables appear in the Autopilot inbox on the home dashboard. Open each item to review the output, accept recommendations, or dismiss. ## Start an agent run Go to **Agents** in the sidebar or Launchpad. Choose the agent type that matches your task. Link a matter or document and enter your instruction. Click **Start run**. The agent works in the background. ## Run history Open **Agents**, then **Run history**, to see past agent runs, their status, and outputs. Failed runs show the error message and can be retried. Interactive matter-aware AI assistant. Vertex and Zenith entitlements. # Research Source: https://docs.largence.com/ai-and-generation/research Run statute and case law research sessions with a citation library. Research sessions preserve your query history and citation library. Each query runs in a session. Return to any session later from the Research session list. ## Start a research session Click **Research** in the sidebar. Click **New session** and enter your research question. Choose the query type that matches your question. Choose Nigeria, UK, or both. ## Query types | Type | When to use | | ---------- | --------------------------------------------------- | | General | Broad legal questions across multiple sources | | Statute | Specific legislative provisions and sections | | Case law | Judicial decisions and precedents | | Definition | Legal term definitions and interpretations | | Comparison | Compare provisions across jurisdictions or statutes | ## How results are ranked Results are authority-weighted, not keyword-matched alone. Higher courts and more frequently cited provisions rank first. Each result shows a relevance score and verification status. ## Citation library Validated citations from research sessions can be saved to your citation library. Click **Save citation** on any result to add it. To use a saved citation in a document, open the citation library from Research or insert from the document editor. ## Research memos Generate a structured memo from a research session. Click **Generate memo** on the session detail page. Export the memo as PDF or link it to a matter document. ## Contextual research Link a research session to a matter or document. Open the session, click **Link to matter**, and select the target. Contextual sessions appear on the matter Research tab. ## Jurisdiction coverage **Nigeria**: CAMA 2020, NDPR 2019, Land Use Act, Labour Act, FCCPA. **UK**: Companies Act 2006, UK GDPR, Employment Rights Act, Civil Procedure Rules. Draft agreements with verified statute citations. Regulatory change notifications for your portfolio. # Channels Source: https://docs.largence.com/apps/channels Secure firm messaging with matter scope and audit coverage. Largence Channels is secure firm messaging with matter scope and full audit coverage. ## Conversation types | Type | Description | | ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Matter channels | Auto-created per matter. Visible to the matter team. | | Document threads | Conversations attached to a specific document. | | Portal threads | Messaging with clients who do not have a Largence account. Appear in Channels and the client portal. | | Direct messages | Private messages between firm members. | ## Real-time features Channels supports typing indicators, read receipts, presence status, and message reactions. ## Unread notifications The badge count on the Channels icon shows unread messages across all conversations. Clicking a notification deep-links to the relevant thread. ## File attachments Send files in any conversation. Flag an attachment as evidence to register it in the Evidence workspace for the linked matter. ## Search Use the search bar in Channels to run full-text search across all conversations in your organisation. ## Relay fallback If the messaging service is temporarily unavailable, Largence falls back to relay mode. Messages still deliver, but real-time features such as typing indicators may be delayed until the service recovers. Portal threads with external clients. Matter channels are created automatically per matter. # Evidence Source: https://docs.largence.com/apps/evidence Manage exhibits, chain of custody, disclosure, and trial bundles. The Evidence workspace requires the evidenceModule entitlement. Available on Learn, Edge, Vertex, and Zenith. CPR35 expert compliance checks are designed for UK Civil Procedure Rules but apply equally to Nigerian corporate dispute matters. Open Evidence from the Launchpad or navigate to `/apps/evidence` and select a matter. ## Evidence index The matter-scoped register logs every item of evidence. Integrity verification checks file hashes on upload and records the result on each item. ## Exhibits Schedule and label exhibits with court-ready codes (C1, D1, J1). Codes are assigned based on exhibit type and sequence within the matter. ## Chain of custody Record every handoff of a piece of evidence. The custody log is cryptographically verified. Each entry records who held the evidence, when, and why it was transferred. This matters for litigation admissibility. ## Disclosure Build the disclosure list with obligation checking against applicable rules. Use the finalise and serve workflow to mark the list as served and record the service date. ## Trial bundles Choose evidence items to include in the bundle. Drag items to set bundle order. Click **Generate bundle** to produce a paginated PDF with Bates numbering. Download the completed bundle from the bundle detail page. ## Witnesses Manage witness schedules and statements. Link witness statements to evidence items and exhibits. ## Experts Manage expert instructions and reports. CPR35 compliance checks verify that expert reports meet disclosure requirements including the duty to state facts, assumptions, and range of opinion. Record joint statements and meeting notes between experts. ## Chronology Auto-generate a chronology from matter documents or import events manually. Flag disputed events for trial preparation. Export the chronology as PDF or link to a matter document. ## Settings Configure evidence workspace preferences per matter: exhibit numbering scheme, disclosure obligations, and bundle formatting. Litigation matter setup. Source documents for chronology generation. # Invoices Source: https://docs.largence.com/billing/invoices View, download, and manage billing invoices. **Org Admin and Billing Manager** can access invoices. ## View invoices Go to **Settings**, then **Billing**, then **Invoices**. The list shows all invoices with date, amount, status, and payment method. ## Download an invoice Click any invoice to open the detail view. Click **Download PDF** to save a copy for your records. ## Invoice status | Status | Meaning | | -------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- | | Paid | Payment received | | Pending | Awaiting payment | | Failed | Payment attempt failed. Retry from the invoice detail page | | Refunded | Payment refunded | ## Payment failures If a payment fails, Largence retries automatically. View and download invoices. # Compliance alerts Source: https://docs.largence.com/compliance/alerts Review, acknowledge, and resolve regulatory change alerts. Compliance alerts are notifications generated when a regulatory change may affect documents or obligations in your workspace. ## Severity levels | Level | Action required | | ------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | | HIGH | Immediate attention. May affect active matters or client obligations. | | MEDIUM | Review within a reasonable period. | | LOW | Informational. No immediate action required. | ## Review an alert Open **Compliance**, then **Alerts**. Each alert shows: * The regulatory change that triggered the alert * Documents in your EDMS that may be affected * Matters linked to those documents * Recommended actions ## Acknowledge an alert Acknowledging records that you have seen the alert. It does not dismiss the alert or mark it as resolved. ## Resolve an alert Resolving marks the alert as acted upon and creates an audit record. Add a resolution note describing the action taken. Acknowledging an alert does not dismiss it. Resolving an alert marks it as acted upon and creates an audit record. ## Portfolio scanner When a regulation changes, Largence scans your EDMS to identify documents that reference affected provisions. The scanner uses the knowledge graph to match statute citations in your document library against the changed legislation. ## Where alerts come from The knowledge graph detects changes to indexed statutes and generates alerts automatically. Alerts appear in Compliance and on the home dashboard for HIGH severity items. Data protection compliance for Nigerian firms. Client due diligence and sanctions screening. # AML/KYC Source: https://docs.largence.com/compliance/aml-kyc Run client due diligence, sanctions screening, and PEP checks. The AML/KYC module records client due diligence, sanctions screening, and Politically Exposed Person (PEP) checks. ## Create a screening record Go to **Compliance**, then **AML/KYC**. Select the client and matter to link the screening. Largence screens against sanctions lists and PEP databases. Results show risk level, matched entities, and screening date. ## Partner review queue HIGH-risk results route to the partner review queue automatically. A Partner or Org Admin must review and sign off before the matter proceeds. ## Screening history Every screening is logged with date, result, and reviewing partner. Open the client profile to see the full screening history across matters. ## Link to client and matter records AML records link to both the client profile and the matter where the screening was initiated. This supports audit trails for SCFID and MLPPA compliance. Nigerian entity verification. Automatic conflict checks on new matters. # Conflict clearance Source: https://docs.largence.com/compliance/conflict-clearance Understand automatic conflict checks and the partner approval queue. Conflict clearance checks whether a new matter or client creates a conflict with existing engagements across your organisation. ## When it runs automatically Conflict clearance runs when: * A new matter is created * A new client is created * A new counterparty is added to a matter ## What the check searches The check searches existing matters, clients, counterparties, and matter parties across the entire organisation. It does not search outside your firm. ## The clearance queue Potential conflicts route to the partner approval queue. Partners and Org Admins see pending items under **Compliance**, then **Conflict clearance**. ## Three outcomes | Outcome | Meaning | | --------- | -------------------------------------------------------- | | Cleared | No conflict found, or conflict reviewed and approved | | Blocked | Conflict confirmed. Matter cannot proceed | | Escalated | Requires senior partner review beyond standard clearance | ## Ethical walls An ethical wall restricts specific users from accessing a matter even after clearance. Set ethical walls on the matter Team tab. See [Matters](/practice-management/matters) for configuration steps. ## Manual conflict check Run a conflict check outside the automatic flow: Go to **Compliance**, then **Conflict clearance**. Enter the party names to check. Results show matching matters and clients with conflict indicators. A conflict that is cleared in Largence creates an audit record. If a conflict is later discovered, that record shows when the check was run and who cleared it. Matter creation and automatic clearance. Ethical walls and team access. # NDPR toolkit Source: https://docs.largence.com/compliance/ndpr Manage data protection compliance under Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019. **Org Admin only.** Other roles cannot access the NDPR tab. The NDPR toolkit covers data protection obligations under NDPR 2019 and NITDA regulations. ## What the toolkit includes * **DPA status**: track Data Processing Agreements with processors * **Data processing register**: record all processing activities * **NITDA filing status**: track annual compliance filings * **Breach recording**: log data breaches with the 72-hour notification deadline ## Record a data breach Go to **Compliance**, then **NDPR**. Enter the breach details: date discovered, nature of breach, data subjects affected, and containment actions taken. The 72-hour countdown starts when you save the record. Once notification is sent, mark the breach as reported and dismiss the timer. Under NDPR 2019 and NITDA regulations, a qualifying data breach must be reported within 72 hours of becoming aware of it. The timer in Largence reflects this deadline. Missing it has regulatory consequences. ## The 72-hour deadline timer The timer appears on the breach record and on the Compliance dashboard. Dismiss it only after NITDA notification is confirmed sent. ## Data processing register Add processing activities with purpose, legal basis, data categories, retention period, and processor details. Review and update the register when processing activities change. Regulatory change notifications. Client due diligence records. # NG Verify Source: https://docs.largence.com/compliance/ng-verify Search CAC, FIRS, and SCUML in a single Nigerian entity verification. NG Verify is a unified Nigerian entity search that queries CAC, FIRS, and SCUML in a single request. ## What each source returns | Source | Information | | ------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------- | | CAC | Registration status, incorporation date, company type, directors | | FIRS | TIN status | | SCUML | AML registration status | ## Run a verification Click **Compliance** in the sidebar. Select the **NG Verify** tab. Enter a company name or CAC registration number and click **Search**. ## Link to a client record From the verification result, click **Link to client** and select the client record. The result is stored on the client profile for future reference. ## Flags and discrepancies If a source returns a flag or the results conflict across sources, review the detail panel for each source. Document the discrepancy on the matter and escalate to a partner if the client cannot be verified. Run NG Verify at the start of every new client matter rather than manually searching three separate government portals. Sanctions screening and PEP checks. Client records and linked verifications. # Account setup Source: https://docs.largence.com/getting-started/account-setup Sign up your firm, complete onboarding, and configure your login URL and MFA. ## How firm signup works **Origin** and **Edge** are self-serve, and is comin, complete the onboarding wizard, and start working immediately. **Vertex** and **Zenith** are sales-assisted. Contact Largence to provision your organisation, configure SSO if required, and agree contract terms before your team receives access. ## The onboarding wizard This becomes your organisation display name across the product and client portal. Choose Nigeria, UK, or both. This sets default statute references and compliance modules for your workspace. Workspaces group matters by department or practice area. Add more workspaces later if your plan allows. ## Your organisation login URL During onboarding, Largence assigns a subdomain: `{your-slug}.largence.com`. This is your firm's login URL. Team members who sign in here land directly in your organisation. Your organisation's login URL is `{your - slug}.largence.com`. Share this with your team rather than the generic `auth.largence.com` to ensure they land in the right organisation. ## Multi-factor authentication Go to **Settings**, then **Security**, to enable MFA on your account. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app and save your recovery codes. Org Admins can require MFA for all users under **Settings**, then **Organisation**, then **Security policy**. ## The Learn programme Verified law students and legal aid organisations can apply for free access at [largence.com/learn](https://largence.com/learn). Approved applicants receive the Learn tier with an educational watermark on generated documents and non-commercial use restrictions. Walk through matter creation, conflict clearance, and the matter hub. Generation limits, entitlements, and trial details. # Create your first matter Source: https://docs.largence.com/getting-started/first-matter Step-by-step guide to opening a matter, running conflict clearance, and using the matter hub. This guide walks through the full matter creation flow from start to finish. Click **Matters** in the left sidebar, then **New matter** in the top right. Alternatively press `Cmd+Shift+M` (Mac) or `Ctrl+Shift+M` (Windows). Select the type that best describes the engagement: * **Transaction**: deals, M\&A, commercial closings * **Litigation**: disputes, trials, advocacy * **Advisory**: counsel, opinions, strategy * **Compliance**: regulatory and risk matters * **Retainer**: ongoing client engagement Choose the jurisdiction (Nigeria or England & Wales) and a practice area. Select the workspace where this matter will live. Matters inherit workspace settings and team visibility. Search for an existing client record or create a new one. Adding a client links the matter to your client directory and triggers conflict checks against that party. Largence runs conflict clearance automatically on save. The check searches existing matters, clients, counterparties, and matter parties across your organisation. If a potential conflict is flagged, the matter enters the partner approval queue. A Partner or Org Admin must review and clear or block the matter before work proceeds. Assign matter roles to each member: * **Lead**: primary fee earner responsible for the matter * **Associate**: supporting practitioner * **Paralegal**: document and task support * **Reviewer**: read and comment access for review workflows * **Billing**: time and invoice management * **Read Only**: view access without edit rights After creation, the matter hub provides these tabs: * **Overview**: status, parties, reference number, and key dates * **Documents**: the matter document library * **Correspondence**: filed emails and messages linked to this matter * **Tasks**: assigned work with due dates * **Timeline**: chronological log of matter events * **Relationships**: counterparties and cross-matter connections * **Team**: matter members and ethical walls * **Billing**: time entries, invoices, and WIP summary Each matter automatically creates a Channels conversation for the matter team. Find it under the Channels app in the Launchpad. Closing a matter is permanent. Only Partners and Org Admins can close a matter. Closed matters remain searchable but cannot be edited. Upload, version, and review matter documents. Draft agreements with verified statute citations. How automatic and manual conflict checks work. # Invite your team Source: https://docs.largence.com/getting-started/invite-your-team Send invitations, assign roles, and manage team membership. ## Who can send invitations Only **Org Admins** can invite new members. Partners and other roles cannot send invitations. ## Send an invitation Go to **Settings**, then **Team**. Enter the person's email address and select their organisation role. Largence sends an email from `noreply@largence.com` with a link to your firm's login URL at ` {your - slug}.largence.com`. ## Organisation roles | Role | Summary | | --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- | | Org Admin | Full organisation control, billing, invitations | | Partner | Create workspaces, approve conflicts, close matters | | Fee Earner | Standard practice access across matters and documents | | Paralegal | Practice access with restrictions on clients and time logging | | Workspace Admin | Workspace-scoped settings and membership | | Billing Manager | Billing and analytics only | | Read Only | Browse practice content without edit rights | | API Consumer | Integrations hub and API settings only | See [Roles explained](/team-and-roles/roles-explained) for the full capability matrix. ## After someone joins To change a role, go to **Settings**, then **Team**, click the member, and select a new role. Role changes take effect immediately. To remove a member, open their profile and click **Remove from organisation**. Their access is revoked immediately. Matters they created remain in the organisation. The CLIENT and EXTERNAL REVIEWER roles are for people outside your firm. They do not access the product shell. Clients receive portal links. Reviewers are added to specific matters only. Full capability matrix for every organisation role. How workspaces scope matters and team access. # Understanding your plan Source: https://docs.largence.com/getting-started/understanding-your-plan Compare plan tiers, generation limits, entitlements, and the Edge trial. ## Plan tiers | Plan | Price (NGN/mo) | Price (GBP/mo) | Matters | Workspaces | Generations/mo | | ----------- | -------------- | -------------- | --------- | ---------- | -------------- | | Origin Free | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 5 | | Origin | 15,000 | 19 | 5 | 1 | 50 | | Learn | 0 (programme) | 0 (programme) | 10 | 1 | 50 | | Edge | 35,000 | 45 | Unlimited | 3 | 500 | | Vertex | 75,000 | 99 | Unlimited | 19 | Unlimited | | Zenith | 150,000 | 199 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Values are taken from the billing service. Unlimited is shown as unlimited in the product when the limit is `-1`. ## What counts as a generation One generation equals one AI drafting session via the **Generate** surface. Each completed document draft consumes one generation from your monthly allowance. Clause refinements within an existing generated document do not consume additional generations. Research sessions do not count as generations. ## Entitlements Entitlements are org-level feature gates separate from role permissions. | Entitlement | What it unlocks | Available on | | ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- | | eSigning | Send documents for electronic signature | Origin paid, Edge, Vertex, Zenith | | clientPortal | Share documents with clients via portal links | Edge and above | | legalAgents | Autonomous background agents | Vertex and Zenith | | apiAccess | Integrations hub and API keys | Edge and above | | collaboration | Team directory, invitations, Custo chat and agent modes | Learn and above | Origin Free and Learn do not include eSigning. Share documents with clients via portal links. # Documents Source: https://docs.largence.com/practice-management/documents Upload, version, compare, and review documents in the Largence EDMS. Largence includes a full document management system (EDMS) for every workspace. Documents live in the global library or within a matter. ## Upload documents Click **Documents** in the sidebar or open the Documents tab on a matter. Click **Upload**, drag and drop files, or use bulk upload for multiple files at once. ## Version history Each save creates a new version. Open a document and click **Versions** to see the full history. To compare two versions, open the compare view at `/documents/[id]/compare`. The structured diff view highlights additions, deletions, and changes between versions. Use the compare view to see exactly what changed between two versions before sending a document for partner review. ## Document branching Branching creates a parallel version line from any point in the version history. Use branching when you need to explore alternative clause language without affecting the main document line. ## Rich text editor Native Largence documents open in the editor at `/documents/[id]/edit`. Press `Cmd+S` or `Ctrl+S` to save. Type `/` for formatting commands. ## Review workflow Documents move through three states: | Status | Meaning | | -------- | ------------------------------------------ | | Draft | Work in progress | | Review | Submitted for partner or reviewer sign-off | | Approved | Finalised for delivery or signing | Partners and Org Admins can approve documents. Fee earners and paralegals can move documents to Review. In the editor, select text and use **Add inline comment** to anchor a comment to that range. The Comments panel shows the quoted text and saved offsets when an anchor is present. Turn on **Track changes** to review typed insertions and deletions, then accept or reject each change from the Changes sidebar. ## Access grants Grant a specific person access to one document without giving them access to the whole matter. Open the document, click **Share**, and add the recipient with view or edit permission. ## Audit trail Every action on a document is logged with the user and timestamp. Open **Audit trail** on the document detail page to review the full history. ## Clause extraction Largence extracts individual clauses from uploaded documents. Use clause extraction to compare against playbooks or to refine specific provisions in Generate. ## E-signature handoff From the document detail page, click **Send for signature** to create a signing envelope. Requires the eSigning entitlement. ## Link to Generate Click **Generate from template** on a matter to create a new AI-drafted document that lives in the matter library. Create and manage signing envelopes. AI-assisted drafting with verified citations. # Matters Source: https://docs.largence.com/practice-management/matters Use the matter hub tabs, change status, and configure ethical walls. The matter hub is the central workspace for each client engagement. Open any matter from **Matters** in the sidebar. ## Overview tab The Overview tab shows the matter status pipeline: Enquiry, Active, On hold, Closing, and Closed. To change status, click the status badge and select the new state. Status changes are logged on the Timeline tab. The parties panel lists the client, counterparties, and external counsel. The matter reference number is auto-assigned when the matter is created. ## Documents tab The Documents tab is the matter's document library. Upload files, search by title, and filter by document status: Draft, Review, or Approved. ## Correspondence tab Filed emails and messages linked to this matter appear here. Each matter has a dedicated email address. Forward correspondence to that address to file it automatically. ## Tasks tab Create tasks, assign them to matter members, and set due dates. Overdue tasks appear on the home dashboard. Task status options include To do, In progress, Blocked, and Done. ## Timeline tab The Timeline is an auto-generated chronological log of all matter events. It cannot be edited manually. Every status change, document upload, and team change is recorded here. ## Relationships tab View counterparties, related entities, and cross-matter connections. Use this tab to understand how parties connect across your portfolio. ## Team tab The Team tab lists matter members and their matter roles. Add or remove members from this tab. ### Ethical walls An ethical wall restricts specific users or teams from accessing a matter, even if they belong to the same organisation. Navigate to the matter and click **Team**. Select the users or teams to block and save the configuration. Users blocked by an ethical wall cannot see the matter in search or the matter list, even if they are in the same organisation. ## Billing tab The Billing tab shows time entries for this matter, invoices linked to the matter, and a WIP summary. Upload, version, and review documents. Record calls, confirm spellings, and analyse with Custo. Automatic and manual conflict checks. # Minutes Source: https://docs.largence.com/practice-management/meetings Record or paste meeting notes, confirm spellings, and run Custo analysis. Capture client calls and internal discussions as structured minutes. Record live audio in the browser, paste notes, clean ASR spellings, then let Custo extract decisions, actions, risks, and briefs. ## Open Minutes Meetings are workspace-scoped. Choose the active workspace from the shell switcher. In the sidebar, open **Minutes** (`/meetings`). Search and filter by status, or delete a row from the table. ## Create a meeting Click **New meeting**. Enter a title, then either start a microphone recording or paste transcript text. Use **Stop & save** when finished. Saving uploads audio, runs transcription, and opens the meeting detail. A floating recorder dock stays available if you navigate away mid-recording. Allow microphone permission in the browser address bar. Discard clears an unsaved recording; leaving the page while recording prompts a leave warning. ## Confirm spellings Speech-to-text often misspells names and specialised terms. After a transcript exists: 1. Open the **Spellings** tab (or wait for Custo to extract recurring terms). 2. Confirm or correct each name and term. 3. Apply corrections — this updates the transcript and marks spellings confirmed. Analysis is more accurate after spellings are confirmed. You can still analyse without cleanup if needed. ## Transcript versions Edits, re-transcription, cleanup, and restores append versions (like documents). Open transcript history on the detail page to preview or restore an earlier version. ## Analysis, ask, and brief | Action | What it does | | ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Run analysis** | Structured summary, decisions, action items, open points, and legal risks | | **Ask Custo** | Question answering grounded only in the transcript and analysis | | **Craft brief** | Lawyer-directed note with focus, audience, and optional context | ## Export to a document From the meeting detail, generate a minutes document — either Largence standard layout or a firm template shell — into the Documents library. ## Rename or delete * **Detail page:** Rename or Delete in the header actions. * **List table:** Use the trash control on a row (confirm before permanent delete). Deleting removes the meeting, transcript versions, and stored audio. ## Statuses | Status | Meaning | | ------------ | ------------------------------------ | | Recorded | Saved; transcript may still be empty | | Transcribing | Speech-to-text in progress | | Transcribed | Transcript ready | | Cleaned | Spellings confirmed | | Analyzed | Custo analysis stored | Store and version the exported minutes document. How Custo assists across the product. # Signatures Source: https://docs.largence.com/practice-management/signatures Create signing envelopes, manage signatories, and download executed documents. **Requires the eSigning entitlement.** Available on Origin paid, Edge, Vertex, and Zenith. ## Create a signing envelope Go to **Signatures** in the sidebar, or open a document and click **Send for signature**. Select the document to include in the envelope. Add signatories from the matter party list or enter names and email addresses manually. Select sequential or parallel signing. Review the envelope and click **Send**. ## Sequential vs parallel signing **Sequential** signing requires each signatory to sign in order. The next person receives the envelope only after the previous signatory completes. **Parallel** signing sends the envelope to all signatories at once. Any order of completion is accepted. ## Reminders Largence sends automatic reminders to signatories who have not signed. Adjust the reminder cadence in the envelope settings before sending. ## Declining to sign A signatory can decline to sign. They must provide a reason. The envelope status updates to reflect the decline and the matter team is notified. ## Tamper-evident audit trail Every action on a signing envelope is recorded: sent, viewed, signed, declined, and completed. The audit trail includes timestamps, IP addresses, and document hashes. This record supports evidential weight if the signature is challenged. ## Download executed documents When all signatories complete, download the executed document and the completion certificate from the envelope detail page. ## DocuSign and Adobe Sign Coming soon. This integration is not yet available. For firms already on DocuSign or Adobe Sign, Largence will support sending envelopes via the connected provider instead of native signing. Deliver documents for client signature via portal links. Document review workflow before signing. # Glossary Source: https://docs.largence.com/reference/glossary Terms as used in Largence. ## Matter A client engagement, case, or project in Largence. The central unit around which documents, tasks, time, correspondence, and team are organised. ## Generation One AI drafting session via the Generate surface. Each plan includes a monthly generation allowance. ## Custo (Parity) Largence's default AI routing layer. Selects the appropriate model per query. Can be overridden with a specific provider model. ## Knowledge graph The Neo4j-backed statute graph that powers citation verification. Indexed against Nigerian and UK in-force legislation. ## Confidence score A percentage shown alongside each generated citation indicating how closely the clause maps to the verified statute section. ## Ethical wall A restriction that prevents specific users or teams from accessing a matter, even if they are in the same organisation. ## Workspace A department-level container within an organisation. Matters, documents, meetings, and templates live inside workspaces. Organisations can have multiple workspaces. ## Minutes Workspace recordings and notes turned into structured minutes: speech-to-text, human spelling review, then Custo analysis, Q\&A, and briefs. ## Autopilot inbox The section of the home dashboard where completed Legal Agent runs surface for partner review. ## Portal thread A Channels conversation between firm members and a client who does not have a Largence account. The client participates via `portal.largence.com`. ## NG Verify The unified Nigerian entity verification tool querying CAC, FIRS, and SCUML in one search. ## NDPR Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019. The primary data protection legislation in Nigeria, enforced by NITDA. ## Entitlement A feature unlocked by subscription plan, separate from role-based access. Entitlements are org-level, not user-level. Platform overview and navigation. Plan tiers and entitlements. # Keyboard shortcuts Source: https://docs.largence.com/reference/keyboard-shortcuts Keyboard shortcuts for navigation, creation, and layout in Largence Studio. Enter the email address and select an organisation role. Largence sends an invitation email with your firm's login URL at `{your - slug}.largence.com`. ## Pending invitations Pending invitations appear in the Team list with a **Pending** badge. Org Admins can resend or revoke pending invitations. ## Assign EXTERNAL\_REVIEWER Org Admins can assign the External Reviewer role when inviting or editing a member. External reviewers receive matter-scoped access only after being added to specific matters. ## Assign DATA\_PROTECTION\_OFFICER Org Admins can invite a DPO as a standalone organisation role. The DPO lands on Compliance and can read/export audit and NDPR records. For matter document access during an investigation or breach response, create a time-bounded **DPO elevation** (`POST /organisations/:orgId/dpo-elevations`) with matter, reason, and expiry. ## Assign EXTERNAL\_AUDITOR Org Admins can invite an External Auditor. Before they can read audit or compliance records, create a time-bounded **audit engagement** (`POST /organisations/:orgId/audit-engagements`) with purpose and expiry. Revoke the engagement to end access immediately. ## After the member joins Change roles from the member profile page. Remove members with **Remove from organisation**. Removed members lose access immediately. Full capability matrix for every role. Getting started guide for team setup. # Roles explained Source: https://docs.largence.com/team-and-roles/roles-explained Organisation roles, matter roles, and the capability matrix. A user has one organisation role. Matter roles (Lead, Associate, Paralegal, Reviewer, Billing, Read Only) are separate and set per matter. ## Org Admin Full organisation control. The only role that can invite members, change roles, manage billing, and access all settings including NDPR admin tabs. Org Admins bypass workspace membership checks. ## Partner Senior practitioner. Can create workspaces, run automations, view billing, close matters, and approve conflicts. Cannot invite members or change org-level roles. ## Fee Earner Standard practitioner. Full access to practice work: matters, documents, Generate, Research, and Compliance. Can log time. Cannot close matters or manage clients page without partner-level access for some actions. ## Paralegal Similar to Fee Earner with restrictions. Cannot manage clients or log time independently. ## Workspace Admin Workspace-scoped administration. Can manage workspace settings and membership. Cannot access automations, integrations, or firm-wide admin. ## Billing Manager Can view billing and analytics. No access to practice pages. Cannot manage matters, documents, or generation. ## Read Only Can browse all practice content. Cannot create, edit, or delete anything. All write buttons are disabled. ## API Consumer Can access the integrations hub and API settings only. Cannot access practice pages at all. ## Client External role. Does not access the product shell. Receives portal links and uses `portal.largence.com`. ## External Reviewer External role. Can access only specific matters where they are assigned as a Reviewer matter role. View and comment only within those matters. ## Data Protection Officer (DPO) Independent compliance role. Organisation-wide **read** access to audit trails, NDPR/compliance records, export, and audit certificates. No impersonation, workspace management, billing, or matter documents by default. Matter document access requires a time-limited **DPO elevation** approved by an Org Admin for a specific matter and reason (investigation, regulatory audit, DSAR, or breach response). Elevations expire automatically and never include impersonation. Cannot be combined with operational roles (`ORG_ADMIN`, `WORKSPACE_ADMIN`, `PARTNER`, `FEE_EARNER`, `BILLING_MANAGER`). ## External Auditor External role assigned by Org Admin only. Read-only access to audit logs and compliance records for a specific **audit engagement** (purpose + expiry). No matter documents, billing, or analytics. Access requires an active (non-revoked, unexpired) engagement. Every audit view/export is logged. Cannot be combined with operational practice roles or `ORG_ADMIN`. Product UI assigns one primary organisation role per member. The API stores roles as an array; DPO and External Auditor are exact-match capability roles (they do not inherit practice privileges via the org hierarchy). Matter roles remain separate and set per matter. ## Capability matrix | Capability | Org Admin | Partner | Fee Earner | Paralegal | Workspace Admin | Billing Mgr | Read Only | API Consumer | DPO | Ext. How Org Admins send invitations. Workspace-scoped access and settings. # Workspaces Source: https://docs.largence.com/team-and-roles/workspaces Create and manage workspaces that scope matters, documents, and team access. Workspaces are department-level containers within an organisation. Matters, documents, and templates live inside workspaces. ## Workspace limits by plan | Plan | Workspaces | | ----------- | ---------- | | Origin Free | 1 | | Origin | 1 | | Learn | 1 | | Edge | 3 | | Vertex | 19 | | Zenith | Unlimited | ## Create a workspace **Requires Partner or Org Admin role.** Go to **Settings**, then **Workspaces**. Enter a name and optional description. Assign workspace members and optionally a Workspace Admin. ## Workspace Admin role Workspace Admins manage settings and membership for their assigned workspace. They cannot access firm-wide automations, integrations, or org admin settings. Org Admins and Partners can access all workspaces regardless of membership. ## Switch workspace Use the workspace switcher in the top bar to change the active workspace. Custo threads, matter lists, and document libraries scope to the active workspace. Workspace Admin capabilities. Workspace limits per plan tier.
