# Generate a document

> Draft agreements with AI, verified statute citations, and matter context.

**Generate**, **Custo** (Copilot), and **Legal Agents** are three separate AI surfaces. This article covers **Generate** only.

Generate is AI-assisted drafting with matter context and a live streaming preview. Each completed draft uses one generation from your monthly allowance.

## Supported document types

Generate supports these document types:

1. Shareholders Agreement
2. Service Agreement
3. Employment Contract
4. NDA (Mutual)
5. NDA (Unilateral)
6. Data Processing Agreement
7. Commercial Lease
8. Share Purchase Agreement
9. IP Assignment
10. Board Resolution (Nigeria only)

## Start a generation

    Click **Generate** in the sidebar or press `Cmd+Shift+G` (Mac) or `Ctrl+Shift+G` (Windows).

  <Step title="Select document type">Choose the agreement type from the catalog.</Step>

  <Step title="Select jurisdiction">
    Choose Nigeria or UK. Statute references and clause language change based on jurisdiction.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter parties and terms">
    Fill in party names, key commercial terms, and any matter-specific instructions.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Link to a matter (optional)">
    Select a matter to attach the generated document to the matter library on completion.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Generate">
    Click **Generate**. The streaming view shows progress as clauses are drafted.

## Streaming view

The progress indicators show which clause is being drafted, citation retrieval status, and assembly progress. The document preview updates in real time as clauses complete.

## Citation badges

Each clause displays a citation badge when Largence finds a verified statute match. The badge shows the statute, section, and confidence score (how closely the clause maps to the verified provision).

When Largence cannot find a verified citation, the clause is flagged rather than given an unverified reference.

  If Largence cannot find a verified citation for a clause, it flags the clause rather than
  generating an unverified reference. Review flagged clauses before sending any document to a
  client.

## Clause refinement

After generation, click any clause to refine it. Enter instructions for the change. Refinements within the same session do not consume additional generations.

## Counter-draft

Upload a counterparty version and initiate a counter-draft. Largence produces AI redlines against the counterparty document, highlighting deviations from your position.

## Generation sessions

Each generation is logged as a session with a full audit trail. Open **Generation history** to review past sessions, inputs, and outputs.

  within an existing generated document do not consume additional generations.
